A?vocational training center funded and built by CNMC Huaxin Hydrometallurgy Co., Ltd., a second-tier subsidiary of China Nonferrous Metal Mining (Group) Co., Ltd. (CNMC), was completed and officially handed over in Likasi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC),?on March 28.
CNMC Huaxin Hydrometallurgy Co., Ltd.?is a subsidiary of China Nonferrous Mining Hong Kong Holdings Limited?(CNMHK), which is a holding subsidiary of CNMC.
The project marks the first time CNMHK has applied its innovative microgrid?system integrating photovoltaic (PV) power generation?and energy storage—initially used?at the world's first demonstration site of green microgrid-powered mines—to the education sector, ensuring?24-hour?uninterrupted power supply to the training center.
With a total floor area of 1,600 square meters, the vocational training center houses six classrooms, one office, a computer lab, and a guard room.
The classrooms?are?equipped with desktop and laptop computers, sewing machines, lecterns, desks, and other necessary teaching tools.
The facility also includes a meeting room, modern restrooms, a water well, and a playground.
The project is widely applauded by local officials. It is considered a token of Chinese enterprises' strong sense of responsibility and unwavering commitment to green and win-win development.
While reducing environmental impact and generating economic value, it's also believed to play an important role in strengthening people-to-people bond between China and Africa.
In his speech at the handover ceremony, Chen Zhimin, Chairman of CNMHK, pointed out that?the project reflects a new assistance model in which Chinese enterprises integrate social responsibility with sustainable development, enabling long-term?empowerment through a combination of technologies?and?public welfare?endeavors.
Henri Mungoma, Mayor of Likasi,?said in his speech that?the vocational training center provides more than just skills—it offers life-changing opportunities.
He expressed heartfelt gratitude to CNMHK for its sustained, great efforts?to fulfill its social responsibilities,?and voiced his sincere hope for a long-lasting friendship between China and Africa.
